Skincare Regimen for Acne-Prone Skin
Updated: Mar 18
My personal skincare regimen for acne breakouts, blemishes and scars.
As someone who has struggled with acne since my teen years, I understand the frustration of the never-ending cycle of acne breakouts. My forehead, cheeks, and jawline were consistently harboring a multitudes of small pimples and large cystic acne. I experimented with numerous skin care products varying among drugstore to high-end brands and even to dermatologist prescription skincare. Some products made improvements to my skin while some worsened it. While I may have had the right ingredients, I had no system. I was on a continual pursuit of the magic skincare regimen for flawless skin.
Now, let’s fast-forward to my years of working in the skincare industry. Not only did I have access to medical-grade quality skincare products but the expertise and advice of estheticians and specialists as well. Having achieved better understanding of the skin and the true differences in skincare product quality, I have gained control of my own skin issues and have found comfort in my skin’s health. My personal skincare journey has brought me to GLO MD Wellness in Costa Mesa, where I can put my best foot (and face!) forward to help others in pursuit of comfort in their own skin. Without further ado, I share with you my daily skincare regimen.
Each morning begins with a cleansing of either Image Ormedic Cleanser or Image Clear Cell Salicylic Cleanser—Ormedic for my daily or Clear Cell for my breakout maintenance. Then I apply SkinCeutical Phloretin CF Gel for antioxidant to protect my skin from atmospheric and sun damage followed by SkinCeutical Discoloration Defense to soften my acne blemishes and scars. Last but surely not least is Image Prevention+ Tinted Moisturizer SPF32, providing me with both sun protection and some glow.
At night, I double cleanse with either or both Image Ormedic Cleanser and Image Clear Cell Salicylic, using my Clarisonic Mia 2 with the final pass. Then I apply SkinCeutical Discoloration Defense followed by Image Vital C Anti-Aging Serum and finish with an eye treatment of Image The Max Stem Cell Eye Cream. Twice a week, I gently exfoliate with Image Iluma Intense Brightening Exfoliating Powder. Once a week or sometimes as needed for my acne breakouts, I use Image Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Pad. And Voila!
It’s been a journey to find a reliable skincare regimen for my acne breakouts and scars. Although I’m happy with my current system, I always believe there is room for growth, so I’m always experimenting with new treatments and products. I hope to discover new profound ways to care for my skin and look forward to sharing the journey with others embarking on the same adventure of loving themselves in their own skin.
