Chemical Peel Treatment
Chemical peels are treatments commonly used to help treat common skin damage. A chemical solution is applied that exfoliates the top layer of skin to reveal the fresh layer beneath it.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a technique involving exfoliation to smooth the texture of the skin. The top layer is removed to reveal the fresh layer beneath it.
What types of chemical peels are there?
There are three basic types of chemical peels:
1. Superficial peel, otherwise known as “the lunchtime peel,” where an alpha-hydroxy acid or other mild acid is used to penetrate the outer layer of skin and exfoliate it gently.
2. Medium peel is used to penetrate the outer and middle skin layers and dissolve damaged skin cells.
3. Deep peel penetrates the middle layer of skin, removing damaged skin cells.
Are chemical peels painful?
Clients may feel a sting from the skin removal process but nothing beyond a slight discomfort. The acids applied to the skin are designed with natural and artificial ingredients to make the exfoliating sensation gentle. At GLO MD Wellness Spa, our providers are there with you throughout the treatment to ensure your comfort.
How do I know if a chemical peel is right for me?
First, you need to determine what the chemical peel is for. Knowing what specifically you want to reduce and what results you want from the procedure help your GLO MD Wellness Spa technician design a chemical peel plan that's right for you.
It's important to remember that a chemical peel is a process and not an instantaneous skincare miracle cure. The best approach is to begin with a gentle peel and work your way towards regular peeling. Consistency is key. Under the supervision of our technicians, we'll create the optimal treatment regimen for your individualized skin needs.
